Polperro Bistro

Contemporary$$$

A creative love letter to the bounty of the Peninsula.

Roll down the drive until you spot fire pits flickering, herb gardens thriving and adirondack chairs perfectly positioned for rolling vineyard views. You have arrived. Slip past the cellar door and into the moody dining room where floor to ceiling windows wrap three sides, framing the dreamy greenery that jumps onto your plate.

A finely tuned degustation features garden veg with a tart buttermilk panna cotta for scooping. Pastry cigars are filled with chicken liver parfait, and oysters are flooded with a verdant sauce of desert lime, sea parsley and saltbush. Caramelised yoghurt lifts miso-braised cabbage, and prawns and mussels are plated with geometric elegance in a vermilion broth.

Service is fleet-footed and engaged, with tastings offered and recommendations aplenty for Polperro’s suite of wines. Take a glass onto the deck (there are blankets for chilly days) and pinch yourself.

Best for: A gourmet getaway - go wine tasting, fine dining, then stay in one of the villas.
