Audrey's, The Continental

Contemporary$$$

Upstairs from the Continental Hotel’s hubbub is a secret for pleasure-seekers. Sea-green velvet banquettes, original limestone, touches of brass and plenty of marble create an elegant interior vista – almost a match for the killer bay and treetop views.

Opportunities for indulgence are many, whether on the $170 degustation or the a la carte menu. Spanner crab presented in the shell gets a buttery, salty hit from sea urchin and glistening baubles of fish roe. Pan-seared John dory luxuriates in a delicate beurre blanc dotted with caviar.

Vacherin, a signature, is a pastel-hued tower of meringue, sorbet and cream topped with gold leaf. Polished service and an impressive wine list – including whole pages of chablis, chardonnay, pinot noir and shiraz – mark Audrey’s as a jewel in Sorrento’s crown.
