El Primo Sanchez

Mexican$$

Top marks to the design team behind this rollicking restaurant and bar. From the splashes of sunshine yellow and Atlantic blue, to the mirror balls and cosy karaoke room, this Mexican fiesta packs more delights than a unicorn pinata.

Kick off the festivities with a ruby red El Diablo cocktail or plunge straight into the spectacularly long list of spirits. Spiffy bartenders in sports jackets serve up shots of Cristalino tequila and smoky, chocolatey mezcal that are better sipped than sculled.

A street-food style menu matches the carnival mood, starting with spicy guacamole, or roasted corn with lime mayonnaise and salted ricotta. The mushroom quesadilla with a punchy preserved truffle XO sauce is an unconventional take on tradition, while marinated pork belly tacos with salsa verde and sliced pineapple are a sweet, fatty treat – particularly with another shot or two.
