Get the weekend started in style with this deep-dish pepperoni pizza with a golden secret
Using fresh store-bought pizza dough and loads of grated parmesan gives this American-style deep-dish pizza the perfect golden, cheesy crust.
Ingredients
1 cup finely grated parmesan
500g store-bought fresh pizza dough balls, at room temperature
¼ cup tomato passata
1 cup grated mozzarella
200g sliced pepperoni
4 piquillo peppers, halved
2 tbsp chopped oregano, to serve
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 220C fan-forced (240C conventional). Lightly grease and flour a 20cm heavy-based skillet. Sprinkle the base and sides with parmesan.
Step 2
Press the dough into the skillet, spread the top with passata, and sprinkle with mozzarella. Scatter with pepperoni and peppers.
Step 3
Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the dough has puffed up and cooked through and the cheese is melted and golden. Top with oregano and cut into wedges to serve.
