MMC Slice Shoppe
Pizza$
Fun, nostalgia-sparking US-style pizzeria.
MMC Slice Shoppe in Marrickville is clearly run by people with an incurable love of pizza. It’s obvious from the inspired toppings, supersized serves and the restaurant’s lineage, run as it is by the people behind My Mother’s Cousin in Bexley North.
New York is the lodestar, but Slice Shoppe stands out by offering not-so-standard-issue toppings, served on a whole pizza or – as you’d expect – by the slice.
Go for slices, and they’ll hit your table like a tidal wave: here’s the NY Classic! The Grandma Square! OG Roni! The Burrata! The Spicey Rosa! The White Sesame Crust! The Hot Honey Pepperoni Square! Sesame crusts and halal pepperoni are democratic nods to the owners’ Lebanese heritage, while Arnold Palmers, classic Coke and housemade lemonade feel full Americana.
And don’t skip the Fungi, topped with swirls of poblano cream, roasted garlic-thyme mushrooms, pecorino and chilli spark.
Must-order dish: White cheese pizza with fresh shallots, caramelised onions and sesame crust ($7.50 a slice).
