Mami’s
Mexican$
Dinner party with charm, chaos and corn chips.
Sitting somewhere between a fast-casual takeaway joint and a restaurant, Mami’s is built for feeding the whole family. Put it down to owners Erendira and Juan Perez, who don’t want you to leave hungry, or too out of pocket, meaning the drinks are BYO and the portions are generous (just look at those tray-sized grande nachos).
Tacos, made on soft corn tortillas, are vividly flavoured and run over with signature carnitas, the pork pull-apart juicy, or mushroom, or perhaps best of all, rich shredded beef, primed for dipping into hot birria consomme.
Meanwhile, adobo-marinated chicken is bundled into a cheesy toasted flour burrito with black beans, thick guacamole and pico de gallo – a full meal with a side of corn chips.
Pack the stools and chairs with friends, just make sure to get in early – slices of tarta de queso sell out fast.
Good to know: Mami’s serves huevos rancheros and breakfast tacos all day.
