My Aunt’s Handmade Noodles
Northern Chinese$
Handmade noodles five ways for your five senses.
After opening without much fanfare, this brightly lit noodle shop has gained a following by dedicating itself to one goal: to leave customers satisfied. The noodles are hand-pulled to order, and the result is some of the best in the city.
Soup noodles, dry noodles, fried noodles, rice noodles, you name it, they probably have it. Plus, there’s free noodle refills if the portions aren’t large enough – the kind of generosity that would bring a tear to any aunty’s face.
Start with the cumin lamb ribs, deceptively tender with rich and earthy notes, then follow with the signature biang biang noodles – bouncy, slick with chilli oil and brimming with umami (throw in some of the vinegary cucumber salad to cut through the savouriness). Ample vegan options add to the welcoming tone. Come early or brave the queues – either way you’ll leave happy.
