Adam Liaw’s cinnamon toast
I haven’t included it in the recipe, but if you wanted to serve this with a big scoop of ice-cream I wouldn’t hold it against you.
Ingredients
3 tbsp caster sugar
2 tsp cinnamon powder
50g butter, softened
4 thick slices of toast (about 4cm thick)
Method
Step 1
Combine the sugar and cinnamon powder. Mix three-quarters of this cinnamon sugar through the butter to create a cinnamon butter. Spread both sides of the toast with the cinnamon butter.
Step 2
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and fry the toast for about 3 minutes on each side, until the toast is crisp and the sugar slightly caramelised. Dust with a little extra cinnamon sugar and serve.
Adam’s tip: I think the best thing since sliced bread is not buying bread sliced. This has a lot of benefits. It stays fresher for longer as it’s protected by the crust, and you can cut your toast as thick as you like. Just get a good bread knife.
