Yeonga
Korean$$
Longstanding barbecue joint delivers char and a half.
It’s all about barbecue at Yeonga, and boy does that smoky flavour sear itself into your memory. Roomy booths with wooden screens offer privacy amid the bustle, and attentive service means you don’t need to know what you’re doing: staff will grill your meat to perfection and guide you in the ways of K-BBQ along the way.
Australian wagyu is every bit as buttery as its 8-9+ marble score suggests, and all the meat is fresh, never frozen (except beef brisket and ox tongue for fine slicing).
Your grill has a built-in ring to hold sides – creamy corn cheese, chewy rice cakes, raw mushrooms and pineapple – which join bowls of salad, sauces, lettuce leaves and limitless banchan. Turning things up a notch? Add fruity soju slushies, available by the jug.
