Dux
Contemporary$$
Sleek newcomer goes straight to the top of the class.
Apparently this is exactly what Albury needed: a fun modern room of dramatic colour; a list of well-made cocktails; a menu that smartly blends Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours. Dux has that vibration of excitement when a venue is undoubtedly the place to be.
Drop by for a Dux Dragon – a dragonfruit flip – and share lamb shoulder croquettes or corn ribs swiped through pimento butter. Settling in? Grilled king prawns with radish and fermented chilli show the kitchen’s creativity and aptitude for cooking over fire, while a crisp-skinned half-chicken with zhoug, chickpeas and tahini yoghurt comes out juicy and perfectly spiced.
There’s gnocchi, there’s Mediterranean-inspired fish of the day, there’s hefty rib-eye on the bone. It’s perfect as a cocktail bar, great as a restaurant. It’s clear why this is Albury’s new hangout.
