The Lincoln
Pub dining$$
Welcoming 170-year-old boozer.
This watering hole has a reputation for its Sunday roast, but The Linc is solid any day of the week. While the main dining room is the quieter of two areas, with carpeted floors and table service, the lively front bar has more charm. Wherever you sit the menu is the same, and classic dishes shine.
A plump chicken schnitzel glistens under herb-flecked butter, offset by an iceberg wedge. Lamb ribs simmered in Stomping Ground stout need only a nudge to slide off the bone, while quinoa salad comes with dill-flecked beetroot.
Twelve taps pour nothing but craft brews and there’s a tight list of mostly Aussie wines. Another sign this joint knows how to walk the pub-restaurant line? The footy’s always on, but the volume is not.
