The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel

Pub dining$$

Praise be, The Lord. Built in 1836, the grand-but-cosy sandstone establishment is Sydney’s oldest continuously licensed hotel. It brews its own beer (the Trafalgar English Bitter is our favourite for a session), oysters are shucked to order, and the pie with mushy peas is a must-have for any visiting tourists. Bonus points for being pokies-free for the past four decades.

Best for: A pork pie and a pint of bitter.
