The Peel Inn
The Peel Inn
Contemporary$$
The little former gold mining village of Nundle is one of those character towns that could be a movie set. The family-owned Peel Inn plays its part with a persona of its own, but we can't help thinking its boutique appeal is fading. Dining on a boisterous Saturday night, the footy's on, it's busy with locals, yet staff keep a cheery face. The meals feel rushed on cold plates but the medium-rare fillet steak is juicy and on the mark, while schnitzel is likewise up to snuff, presentation aside. Local trout is also on the menu. Sunday lunch in the leafy beer garden would be a more relaxed option.
