Victory Hotel

Contemporary$$

Part of the charm of this quirkily cow-themed village is the local, whose vast wooden deck invites long Sunday lunches, especially in summer. Evenings it's dimly lit, with interesting blackboard specials to relieve the predictability of the small set menu: perhaps tender chicken supremes sticky with soy and ginger alongside rice and bok choy; or gold-crusted barramundi swirled with caper-lemon butter. Modest pizza offerings include a fabulous margherita with fresh tomato that's big enough for two. The atmosphere is amiable and family-friendly, although inhospitable staff may sour the note. There's a tennis court and swimming pool, too.
