Somers General Store

Somers General Store

Contemporary

Somers is a sleepy spot at the back of the peninsula, and the General Store is its heart. The spacious, light-filled room is lined with windows facing across the glinting water towards Phillip Island. Chef Emily Turnbull (ex-Attica) reflects the openness of the space with big, honest flavours: calamari in light chickpea batter with a lip-smacking lemony aioli; tender baked spinach and ricotta gnocchi with burnt butter and crisped sage; chunky roast vegetable frittata with a tart beetroot relish. Local wines are available by the glass, and just to prove its general store credentials, you can buy lolly bags, kitchenware and larder items, and even post a letter.
