Darlinghurst institution, Bar Coluzzi, moves next door
The delicious cocktail of cyclists, high court judges and tradies who have congregated happily at Bar Coluzzi in Darlinghurst for decades were surprised to find the familiar red shopfront empty.
Bar Coluzzi, which opened in 1957 and moved to the building in 1970, has decamped to the skinny shop next door.
The Coluzzi family sold the iconic Sydney cafe in 1999, but it has never been far from the headlines.
The relocation next door seems to be surrounded by drama, with the landlord of Coluzzi's posting copies of emails in its front window from its former tenant about not renewing the lease when it expires in March.
"This shop has been repossessed by the landlord due to the tenant not paying their rent for the last two months," it says.
