What The Inspired Unemployed’s Matt Ford eats in a day
One half of The Inspired Unemployed Matt Ford, 28, shares his day on a plate.
8.30am After a surf with mates, I have two pieces of gluten-free toast with avocado, two poached eggs and an oat milk flat white.
10.30am A banana between meetings and filming a skit.
1pm Lunch at a local cafe: halloumi burger with spinach, avocado and aioli on a gluten-free bun (I’m gluten-intolerant).
4pm I snack on a few handfuls of salt and vinegar chips.
5.30pm Crack open a low-sugar ginger beer at home and watch the sun go down. For dinner, I have a scotch fillet steak cooked on the barbie, with mashed potato, peas and carrot, and another ginger beer.
8pm Two rows of chocolate while watching television.
Dr Joanna McMillan says:
Top marks for … Having avocado in place of butter on your toast. It delivers far more nutrients, including vitamin E and folate, healthier fats and fibre. Teamed with nutrient-rich eggs, this makes for a terrific start to the day.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Risk falling short on fibre, as gluten-free options tend to be made from refined potato or rice flour. Several gluten-free whole grains and pseudo grains offer whole-food nutrition.
Why don’t you try … A high-fibre gluten-free bread for home, and gluten-free whole grains such as teff, quinoa, amaranth, corn and brown or black rice. As you’re not coeliac, you can also include oats.
Matt Ford is a co-owner of Better Beer; its low-sugar alcoholic ginger beer is out now.

Adam Liaw's mixed meatball spaghetti
Yes, there are different kinds of meatballs in this spaghetti, but it makes sense. Bolognese is often made from a mixture of beef and pork, and I know lots of Italians who will add chicken wings or drumsticks to their ragu.
