Nicole Economos

Co-founder of Fishbowl Nic Pestalozzi, 29, shares his day on a plate.

8.30am Smashed avocado on sourdough with goat’s cheese and mint, a side of tomato and fermented chilli, and a strong oat latte.

12.30pm Chicken salad with kale, mixed leaves, cucumber, green chilli, cabbage, red onion, spicy broccoli, lemon olive oil, spicy shoyu dressing and tamari almonds.

2pm An apple and a Super Shroom latte – it’s a mix of cacao, spices and mushrooms.

6pm Kingfish and yellowfin tuna sashimi with capers and olive oil, as well as prawn mafaldine, bottarga, walnut pangrattato and a green salad, plus two negronis and two glasses of red wine.

8.30pm Hazelnut milk chocolate.

Dr Joanna McMillan says:

Top marks for … The extensive use of herbs and spices throughout your day. They not only provide flavour but a wealth of plant compounds that help combat oxidative damage in the body. Your Super Shroom latte adds the unique antioxidants found in mushrooms, particularly the more exotic ones that don’t often make it into Western diets.

If you keep eating like this you’ll … Nourish your body nicely while keeping your taste buds engaged and your brain and heart happy with all those good fats from the avocado, olive oil, nuts and fish.

Why don’t you try … Having two or three alcohol-free days a week. Swap the milk chocolate bar for
dark chocolate, which has more protective polyphenols.

Nic Pestalozzi is a co-founder of Japanese salad group Fishbowl.
