What skincare specialist Melanie Grant eats in a day
Skincare specialist Melanie Grant, 41, shares her day on a plate.
6am Wake up, drink a glass of warm water with a big squeeze of lemon and take my probiotics.
6.30am Two morning coffees, one espresso and one with almond milk.
9am I make a large carafe of water with fresh ginger, lemon and mint which I drink throughout the day. I have vitamin B, ashwagandha, liposomal C and fish oil.
11am For breakfast I have the same smoothie I’ve had every day for years: ice, water, spinach or kale, wild blueberries, sprouted plant protein, marine collagen, a whole avocado and some flaxseeds.
1.30pm A salad with tinned tuna.
4pm Peppermint tea and a Loco Love chocolate.
6.30pm A glass of red wine.
8pm Grilled fish with lemon and a salad with olive oil and chilli. Later I have lemon balm tea and magnesium.
Dr Joanna McMillan says:
Top marks for … Drinking plenty of water and herbal teas to stay hydrated. Eating a largely whole-food diet along with supplements that may improve gut, skin, brain and immune-system health.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Risk damaging your long-term bone health as you are short on calcium. It’s crucial for women in their 40s and 50s to employ strategies that help to mitigate that deficiency.
Why don’t you try … Choosing a calcium-fortified plant milk along with non-dairy sources of calcium such as tofu, sardines, mussels, oysters, edamame, chia seeds or figs.
