My day on a plate: Actor Drew Weston

6.30am Six Weet-Bix with blueberries and oat milk, followed by an espresso.

10.20am After a post-gym protein smoothie earlier, I have an oat flat white and cheeky pain au chocolat.

1pm Two homemade chicken fillet wraps with iceberg lettuce, carrot, spinach, cucumber, cheese and honey-mustard dressing.

4pm A mandarin and a pink lady apple.

7pm A takeout salmon sashimi poke bowl with cabbage, brown rice, carrot, shallots, wasabi peas and roasted sesame dressing.

8.30pm A Curly Wurly chocolate bar and a bag of Cobs natural sweet and salty popcorn.

Top marks for … Getting wholegrains into at least two meals with your choice of breakfast cereal and the brown rice at dinner. These provide fibre to fuel a healthy gut microbiome, along with an array of vitamins, minerals and unique antioxidants important for health.

If you keep eating like this you’ll … Have to watch your intake of sweet treats or risk displacing more nutritious foods while adding sugar and concentrated kilojoules.

Why don’t you try … Enjoying a pain au chocolat just once a week and swapping the confectionery bar for dark chocolate with at least 60 per cent cocoa. This is rich in antioxidants and can help heart and brain health.
