Hamstring injury concerns Novak Djokovic

By Jackson Graham

Novak Djokovic says his hamstring injury is “not ideal” and he is worried about whether his body will hold up through the whole tournament.

“I wish some things were different with the way I feel with my leg, but it is what it is and I have to take it day by day,” he said in a post-match press conference.

To give himself time to recover, Djokovic said he was not practising on the days in between matches.

“At least you have some time to try to recover and get ready for the next match,” he said.

“At the same time, I have to accept the circumstances and try to adjust myself with my team. My physio and medical team have been doing everything possible so that I will be able to play every match.

“There’s two choices … leave it, or keep going. So I’m going to keep going and I’m going to try to play and compete with of course a great player Dimitrov in a couple of days.

“I know matches are only going to get tougher for me from here.”
