Some good news! Despite initial fears Red Cadeaux might have to be put down after being injured during the Cup, it appears he will pull through. Trainer Ed Dunlop confirmed he feared the worse but sounded relieved after talking to vets.

"I thought he was going to be put down," he said. "At this stage he hasn't. Obviously he's immediately retired." Read more here.

If you thought your job was tough, this royal guard outside the Emirates marquee hasn't blinked all day. Well, perhaps in private and I can confirm that he is not a statue but a human. Credit to him for not blinking when women strapped into risque "fashion" swept past him.

Stevie Payne walked up the lectern and the crowd roared. Perhaps bigger than when the gates flung open. Perhaps bigger than when the field passed the post the first time.
