He was enormous in the second quarter. He was the one that really got us going around clearances and around contested ball. He put the team on his shoulders and carries us I reckon a little bit. It was brilliant to see and that’s what players like him do. They might have a bad quarter but they find a way to get themselves back into the game.
It is on his 200th game, it was great that he was able to do that. You know, in terms of a footballer, I have never seen anyone work on their game any harder than what Lachie does. He is always trying to get the best out of himself and tonight he showed the way for us.
Was that where it was won and lost by contested ball?
Well, the statistics would suggest that. That’s where Collingwood clearly had dominance in the first quarter. After that, I think we were really strong. So, yes, I think that was the game.
You had less inside 50s. Did that speak to your efficiency going forward? Or good defence at the other end?
A bit of both. Most of that was first quarter, I think that differential. Yes, what were we behind? They were plus nine in the first quarter and they finished up plus nine or plus eight. So, yes, it was all there. So it was all around the contest and them getting yardages from between stoppages.
