Let’s look back at some of the major stories today:

- Victoria has recorded four new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, and two in hotel quarantine. There are now 72 active cases in the state.
- The Commonwealth and Victorian governments have struck a deal over the new Melbourne quarantine facility. The federal government will provide the construction costs while Victoria will bear the costs of operating the centre. Victoria will also run the facility.
- Pfizer vaccinations will be brought forward nationwide for 40 to 49-year-olds from June 8. Vaccines will also be available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 16.
- New additions to Victoria’s coronavirus exposure sites include a diamond dealer in the CBD that has been added as a tier-1 location, an Indian restaurant and Kmart at Sanctuary Lakes Shopping Centre. Full details here.
Several tier-2 locations have also been added to the exposure list, including an optometrist in the city, Barkly Square in Brunswick - including the Coles inside the shopping centre - and a nearby fruit and vegetable store on Sydney Road.
