Opening her maths book over his lap, Sienna asked for help. “It’s decades since I’ve done trig, honey,” Ross murmured, scanning the pages, “but I’ll give it a crack.”

Seated at her desk, Ross pored over her textbook and chewed on a pencil while she peered over his shoulder. He was enjoying himself. “Always hated maths, but it’s just puzzle-solving, hey?” he said brightly, scribbling equations.

“Mm-hmm,” said Sienna, by now reclining on her bed, phone in hand.

“Not as hard as you’d think, sweetheart,” he announced later, scrawling away, while her thumb flicked her screen. “Isn’t learning wonderful?”
