Infamous 'Spring Break' destination Cancun in Mexico made the top 10, but no Australian beaches featured in TripAdvisor's top 25 beaches.Reuters

Not one Australian beach has made the cut into TripAdvisor's list of the world's top-25 beach destinations.

Providenciales, an island in the Caribbean's Turks and Caicos Islands, took out the top spot for the second year in a row.

Palm Eagle Beach in Aruba, another Caribbean island, was named the second best beach destination in the world, while Tulum in Mexico took out third spot.

In a separate category for the best beaches in Australia, Queensland's Burleigh Heads, known for its surf break, was listed as number one, followed by NSW's Byron Bay, Queensland's Coolangatta and Broome in WA.

In all, Queensland laid claim to six of the top 10, with NSW and WA taking two winning destinations apiece.
