Hong Kong day trips and Macau

The A-Ma Temple in Macau.Bloomberg

I PLAN TO STAY WITH FRIENDS IN HONG KONG SOMETIME BETWEEN SEPTEMBER AND NOVEMBER. I WOULD LIKE TO TRAVEL TO MACAU FOR A FEW DAYS. COULD YOU RECOMMEND A TOUR? WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST MONTH FOR TRAVEL, AND TOUR COMPANIES WITH WHICH I COULD DO DAY TRIPS IN HONG KONG?

E. DODSON, WEST PENNANT HILLS

There are two prominent Australia-based tour operators with tours of Macau that would suit you. One is Helen Wongs Tours (helenwongstours.com), the other is Wendy Wu Tours (wendywutours.com.au).

For your day tours in Hong Kong see Viator (viator.com). There's a huge array with various themes – cultural, nightlife, food, walking – and you can see feedback from past tour guests to work out what might suit you best.

As far as weather goes, you're in the sweet spot. September to November is the best time to visit Hong Kong, with lower temperatures, plenty of sunshine and breezes to whisk away the haze. Typhoon season is mid-year to November. They're more likely in September however that shouldn't stop you from going then.
