‘You got to bring Ange back’: Snoop Dogg backs Celtic’s push for Postecoglou

The push for Ange Postecoglou to make an unlikely return to Celtic has received backing from an unlikely source: Snoop Dogg.

Fresh off his Australian tour, the hip-hop legend has delivered a public show of support for one of this country’s greatest sporting exports amid speculation Postecoglou could be set for a second coming in Scotland.

A long-time Celtic fan, Snoop weighed in on the club’s turmoil in an exclusive interview to the Scottish Daily Record, in which he gave his reaction to Brendan Rodgers’ sudden departure, the installation of Martin O’Neill as caretaker and the clamour to bring back Postecoglou, who was recently sacked by Nottingham Forest after just 39 days as manager.

“I love sport, and in sport players leave, coaches leave, and you move on,” he said.

“You got to give Martin O’Neill big respect, he is coming back when we need him. I think you got to bring Ange back. The club are gonna do what they are gonna do, but the fans would love to see him back.”

A part-owner of English Championship club Swansea City, Snoop also expressed his interest in putting money into the Hoops as an investor, saying it was something he would be “down” for if the opportunity was right.

“Celtic is a huge club and fans want to see the best players playing in this great stadium,” he said. “All the owners have got to do is ask.”

Snoop’s affinity for Celtic stretches back to when he was gifted a jersey back in 2005; he has recently spoken of plans to operate a burger truck outside Celtic Park.

Unfortunately for Snoop, it appears a return to “Paradise” is not on the cards for Postecoglou.

Credible reports suggest that the 60-year-old former Socceroos boss has turned down an approach from the Scottish champions and is planning to take a break from football after a tumultuous 2025, in which he lifted the Europa League trophy with Tottenham Hotspur and then was sacked twice in the space of four months.

Postecoglou had been previously asked about the idea of going back to a former club when he was Spurs boss and talk of Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to one day return to the North London club was swirling.

“I feel like whenever I’ve left [a club], I’ve left on the back of success and I like to leave that memory as it is,” he said in 2023. “I just don’t think there’s any real purpose … I wouldn’t see myself going back anywhere I’ve been, but who knows?”
