“He brought to Newtown fierce competition... and that has remained,” Rowney said.
Similar to Ray Warren, Rowney also spoke of his work in the community throughout his career.
“If he spoke to the Prime Minster, he paid attention. If he spoke to a battler, he paid attention. If he spoke to a kid, he paid attention,” he said.
Rowney called Raudonikis a “larrikin who stood for something.“
“He stood for the position of ‘we are not just going to make up the numbers, we are going to have a real go’,” he said.
“He made a difference to people - many of which he had never met.“
