Police investigate wild brawl between Roosters and Sharks supporters
Police are investigating after a brawl broke out between fans during the Sharks 20-10 elimination final victory against the Roosters on Saturday night.
A fight involving up to ten people erupted during play at PointsBet Stadium on Saturday between Roosters and Cronulla fans, and footage of the incident has begun circulating online.
The incident, which took place below the Channel Nine tent, near the family hill, was eventually broken up by police at the venue, but not before several punches were thrown and spectators nearby were knocked over.
At this stage, no arrests have been made, but NSW Police said on Sunday morning that they were looking into the incident.
“An investigation is underway after a brawl involving up to ten people broke out within the grounds of a football stadium in Cronulla last night,” a statement read.
“Police have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“As inquiries continue, anyone with mobile phone footage or information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
The Sharks and the NRL are aware of the incident.
Cronulla ended the Roosters season on Saturday night with a win in the Shire, and now progress to the semi-finals next week where they will play the loser of Sunday’s qualifying final between the Raiders and Broncos.
