Fantastic defensive effort now from the Broncos, denying what looked to be a certain try when star Dolphins centre Herbie Farnworth zeroed in on the left corner. He held the pass up late for Selwyn Cobbo, but three Broncos rushed over to take their former teammate over the cornerpost.
Broncos 4, Dolphins 0 after 14 minutes
The Dolphins get their first attacking chance of the game and they go over easy as Kodi Nikorima strolls through a yawning gap. There’s a hint of an obstruction here as Adam Reynolds makes contact with lead runner Connelly Lemuelu, and the bunker confirms that it’s a not-try. Got to get through the defensive line or out of the way if you’re going to run a decoy. The Broncos get away with one there.

Reece Walsh is weaving out of tackles in the middle of the part and Brisbane go on the attack. They push to the right and Ezra Mam slides in a grubber kick for Kotoni Staggs, who appears to lose possession for a moment but then regains it to touch down. Dream start for the Broncos.
Adam Reynolds is back in the side but pushes his conversion wide to the left.
Broncos 4, Dolphins 0 after five minutes
The Broncos take the field minus the injured Payne Haas but they’re still expected to win against local rivals the Dolphins, but the Tigers have just showed that things don’t always go to expectations in this comp.
The Dolphins get things started and Corey Jensen takes the first hit-up of the game for Brisbane.
It’s a good first defensive set from the Dolphins, with Reece Walsh kicking on the last from well inside his own 40 metres, and the visitors earn a repeat set then get to Brisbane’s 20 metres for an attacking kick. It’s actually two kicks, the second finding Jamayne Isaako, but he’s wrapped up by swarming Brisbane defenders.

They seemingly spent most of this game battling to defend their own tryline but the scoreboard will show a convincing win for the Tigers, with Sunia Turuva scooting over for a try down the right seconds before the final buzzer. They were $4 outsiders with the bookies to win this game and they’ve done it easy in the end.
Jock Madden misses the final conversion but the Tigers don’t care a jot. The Warriors have lost their first game of the season and the Tigers have won two of their first three.
Wests Tigers 32 beat Warriors 14 at full-time
Wow. What a game this has been for Jock Madden, back in Tigers colours after a long, long wait, and now finishing off a sweeping try after Adam Doueihi and Luke Laulilii combine to break the Warriors open down the left flank.
It’s a shocking result for the Warriors, and there will be questions about complacency after their red-hot start to the season, but this Tigers outfit has shown a lot of heart.
Madden slots the conversion too and this contest is over.
Tigers 28, Warriors 14 with five minutes left
The Warriors have had 40 tackles inside the Tigers’ 20 metres now but remain scoreless since half-time, this time Luke Metcalf making an error close to the line to let the pressure off. The Tigers have defended their hearts out in this one, and the hosts must be frustrated after averaging 40 points a game in big wins through the first three weeks of the season.
But now that Tigers defence cracks at last. Is it too little, too late? The Warriors shift right, Tanah Boyd runs to the line then passes to Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad who slides through a gap to score his second try of the night.
But Boyd misses his conversion, and it could be a crucial miss – the difference between this being a one-try deficit and an eight-point gap.
Tigers 22, Warriors 14 with 10 minutes left
The boilover could be on here. Adam Doueihi has shaken off doubts about a hamstring injury and he’s been a standout tonight in the absence of his usual halves partner, dummying and running clear from his own end, then holding up the final pass nicely before sending Jahream Bula through for his first try of the season.
Fantastic stuff from the Tigers, and they could join the league leaders if they hold onto this lead (at least until Canterbury and Penrith play tomorrow).
Tigers 22, Warriors 10 with 19 minutes left
A great play by the Tigers now, out of their own end – Alex Twal of all people finding some space and making a break before sending a flick pass to Jahream Bula, who then finds Heamasi Makasini. But the youngster tries to get to the play-the-ball too quickly and losses control of the ball in the process.
Still a scoreless second half so far, but this game is starting to open up.
