The Bulldogs are officially out of the race for Latrell Mitchell.

The club's retention committee met on Friday and came to the decision to remove themselves from contention for Mitchell's signature.

"After meeting as a recruitment and retention committee this afternoon we have made the decision that we won't be making an offer to Latrell," Bulldogs CEO Andrew Hill said.

"We normally wouldn't comment on situations like this but given the amount of attention this has received over the past few days we just wanted to make that clear.

"We won't be adding any more to it than that."

The Bulldogs were considered one of the leading chances to land Mitchell, should he decide to leave the Roosters.

The Tigers now shape as the most likely Sydney-based destination for the star centre.

The Cowboys have also been linked to Mitchell in the last few days.
