That's it for today, thanks for folllowing along

Not exactly a classic contest, but we did see both the longest punt and the lowest points scored in a super bowl. Really exhilarating records to witness.
For New England, it's two titles in three years, and six since the Brady/Belichick era began back in 2001. Truly remarkable. The Rams become just the second team ever (the first was Miami back in 1971) to not score a touchdown in the super bowl. Truly unremarkable.
Thanks for following along, keep an eye out for all our content in the next few hours, and we'll see you again soon.

Here's our first take from the game, with lots more to come later

The New England Patriots have claimed the Lombardi Trophy for a record-tying sixth time, defeating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in a Super Bowl LIII slugfest in Atlanta.
A clash of generations at quarterback and head coach, this was billed as a battle between 41-year-old Tom Brady and 66-year-old Bill Belichick of New England up against 24-year-old Jared Goff and 33-year-old Sean McVay of Los Angeles.

MVP Julian Edelman speaking now
By
Broadcaster Jim Nantz asks him how he feels about winning the MVP: "It just matters that we won," Edelman replies, in typical Patriot fashion.
"The support here tonight was like a home game ... I can't thank you guys enough," the star quarterback says.
"Look at this!" he says, pointing at the sea of fans. "How could that not motivate you?"
He's not retiring.

Owner Robert Kraft receives the Lombardi Trophy
By
Patriots legend Vince Wilford and hall of fame quarterback Joe Namath escort the trophy through the pile of players, before NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is roundly booed by fans as he hands the silverware over.
Kraft takes the microphone, and gives a special mention to Brady and Belichick, labelling them the best ever at their jobs.
"This is a great day for our football team," adds coach Belichick, holding his granddaughter.

It's official: Edelman wins the MVP award!
By
A pretty easy pick, to be honest. The defence made a lot of plays as a unit but only one man truly shone on offence today.
For the sixth time in the last 20 years, the New England Patriots are the Super Bowl champions! They go one better than last year, and there can't really be an argument about Bill Belichick's status as the best coach in American sports history. To dominate like this in a salary capped era is absurd.
The confetti rains down in Atlanta as Brady tries to navigate a scrum of reporters and photographers to congratulate teammates, opposition and Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

The Rams drive down the field and miss a field goal
By
They needed to score twice, so they get just inside Zuerlein's range and attempt the field goal - if it was good they could have tried an onside kick (short kick-off) and had one play at the endzone, but it sails a mile wide and that's it
The Patriots will kneel down the bleed the last few seconds off the clock and that's that!
