That’s a wrap for day two at the SCG

Despite some handy breakthroughs from Stuart Broad, that was comfortably Australia’s day, with Usman Khawaja’s century the performance of the day.

Despite the rain, we still have three days left for a result. Keep in mind play will begin an extra half an hour each day at 10am.

Tomorrow is Jane McGrath Day, so get down to the SCG if you can - in pink of course - or buy your virtual seat online to support breast cancer nurses.

After a tense little period, and a let-off for Crawley that a batsman can only dream of, England have made their way through the five overs before stumps.

They still trail by 403 runs and have an almighty job ahead of them on Friday to stay in this fourth match.

Cummins sent down a menacing final over, making Hameed play at most deliveries, but the struggling opener lives to fight another day.

Starc removes Crawley ... but it’s a no-ball!

Mitchell Starc has removed Crawley for a 12-ball duck.

Caught at first slip. Easy as you like.

Hang on. It’s a no-ball. Oh dear.

Starc’s front foot was just over the line there.

A little expletive may have just come out of the side of the big quick’s mouth there.

Cummins sends down a maiden as the clock ticks down

It’s a decent over but probably little leg side for Cummins’ liking.

Starc searching for a breakthrough at the other end.

Starc is steaming in at his bunny, Hameed, who gets a single into the off side from the second ball of the over.

The left-armer looks threatening but ball five is on Crawley’s pads. Four leg byes.

The last ball of the over is well outside the off stump.

I’d say we’ll get another three overs in, maybe four. Time to get the countdown clock out again.

Cummins with a beautiful first over

First ball, Cummins beats the bat of Hameed, who half plays at a ball outside the off stump.

Ball two, Hameed flicks one off his pads and gets off strike and is more than happy to not come back for two.

England survive the over as Carey lets through four byes to a bouncer that really kicks up. He can count himself a little unlucky there and was probably lucky to get a glove on it.

Starc is about to have a trundle at the other end.

Lyon hits Broad for six as Australia declare

Well that was the shortest-lived poll I’ve ever sent out.

Nathan Lyon has smashed Broad into the SCG Members Pavilion, which prompts Australian skipper Pat Cummins to call the lads in.

Australia will get about 20 minutes at England tonight.

Anything could happen.

The home side finish on 8-416, with Starc unbeaten on 34 and Lyon doing his bit with an entertaining cameo of 16 from seven balls.
