So Australia's reign as world No.1 lasted 48 hours although they can claim back again tomorrow if India lose to New Zealand.

The difference between the two teams tonight was Jos Buttler. His 43-ball cameo at the end of England's pushed their total into the territory that constantly kept Australia's innings under stress. That, coupled with the fact that Broad, Bresnan and Stokes out-bowled their Australian counterparts, meant the Australian batsmen could find no fluency.

Aaron Finch was clearly a standout for Australia but not another batsman from the home side could support him.

FINALLY! England have won, Pattinson skies this on but this time it is the man with the gloves who takes the catch. Buttler scored 71 runs from 43 balls with five catches, Stokes scored 70 runs and took four wickets. You pick the man of the match.

Hot spot says he hit it.

Coulter-Nile looks like he is out caught behind, but only the faintest of half shouts from Buttler and Bresnan engenders no reaction from the umpire.

Pattinson skies one now and two fieldsmen charge towards it put a desperate Gary Ballance just cannot quite get there.

Nathan Coulter-Nile skies a high shot. Ben Stokes and England have about five minutes to savour their first win of the tour but then Stokes drops a sitter.

WICKET! Christian goes again but all he can do is getting a thickish edge down to deep third man where Gary Ballance takes the catch. It's the dreaded 10th wicket partnership for England.

By

There's a lot of swinging but not much hitting. Christian finally gets on and lobs it over midwicket for a boundary. That will alleviate the run rate pressure for all of about two balls.

And Johnson has just been cleaned bowled to boot. Stokes claims the wicket. He has scored 71 and taken four wickets does he edge Jos Buttler for man of the match, his innings was the difference in my opinion.

The run rate is almost two runs a ball. Christian and Johnson can both hit it but neither possessed the calculated fury of Faulkner, Buttler or Morgan to overcome this target. England have got this won.
