Aussie teen taken for scans after heavy fall in Olympic final

Livigno: Australian teenager Ally Hickman was taken for precautionary scans following a heavy fall in the women’s slopestyle final on Wednesday (local time).

The 16-year-old from Sydney fell off a rail during her second run and could be seen pointing towards her chest when the medical team assessed her on the sidelines.

However, Hickman overcame the initial pain of the fall and took to the slopes once more for her third and final run. But after getting past the rail which tripped her up in the second run, Hickman had another fall on the final section of the course.

She got back up and waved to the camera while waiting for her score, before she was taken to a nearby clinic for an assessment and precautionary scans that revealed a bruised sternum.

She had further X-rays and an ultrasound to rule out any other abdominal or chest injuries.

Hickman still managed to finish seventh overall after she put down an impressive and clean 67.70 in her first run to get her on the board.

Japan’s Mari Fukada won gold in the event with a 87.83, New Zealander Zoi Sadowski-Synnott won silver with a 87.48 and Japan’s Kokomo Murase won bronze with 85.80.
