Young Eagle could be forced into retirement over lingering concussion

Young Eagle Luke Edwards could be forced into retirement on medical grounds as he suffers ongoing concussion symptoms.

The 22 year-old was placed in concussion protocols for a third time this year after the Round 20 Western Derby, he hasn’t played a game since and won’t again this year.

Meetings between the club and Edwards management have recently taken place with further medical tests to be undertaken.

Those results could clear Edwards to resume his career or he could be referred to an AFL panel which would ultimately make a decision on his future, a compensation payout possible.

The midfielder, son of Adelaide dual premiership player Tyson Edwards, has played 37 games since being drafted in 2020 and is out of contract this season.
