Really pleased for him. He felt earlier in the year, played him as a forward, we missed out on capitalising on his work rate and getting himself into space a little at times. He went through a period where the balance of his game was a little bit off. He’s been pretty resilient. He went back and played two footy for two weeks. Then he found a really good balance in what we were asking for from him. Since he’s come back into the team he’s been really solid. Tonight was one of his more influential games.
Has he been reluctant to play ruck? Did he come wanting to be, I guess, the marquee key forward?
No, in his discussions with us, he was willing and he had a desire to do that, to do whatever it takes for the team, basically. And that’s one of the things that he’s done well over the journey. And you know, I had seen him playing for Fremantle mostly having to play first ruck when their ruckman has gone down earlier in the game with injury, and I had seen him swing games, you know, two or three years ago, and so I knew he could be influential there. We all did. So, no, he’s always willing to do the team thing, and, yeah, and he kicked a few in the end too. So he had a big say in it.
What does tomorrow look like? Will you keep a close eye on the Giants?
Yeah, we’ve done all we can tonight. You ride your luck, whether you get a bit lucky tomorrow, it’s a 50-50 game. Both teams have been very, very good throughout the course of year. See how it goes. We’d be ... feeling better about it if we were safer.
