Goodnight all!
By
What a wild night of footy, Collingwood are now equal in points for first on the ladder, with Geelong still to play (bonkers!!), and Melbourne have a bit more of a challenge on their hands to end in a top-four spot come September.
After the coaches pressers’ McRae’s belief is stronger than ever, while Goodwin is still confident Melbourne can go all the way despite tonight’s setback.
Collingwood have some patches to clean up on the stat sheet and Melbourne need to stop leaving the door ajar from opposition to walk through.
All in all, another dramatic chapter in this season’s story.
We might need a welfare check on Melbourne supporters after that one.
Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw and Gawn won the disposal count and put in the hard yards, while Fritsch was dangerous in front of goal with two majors.
But it wasn’t enough for the surging Collingwood side. Elliott and Johnson both claimed four goals each and Nick Daicos once again held the fort down back, along with Howe and Maynard.
What an evening.
