Robert Harvey talks on the Pies loss

By

Harvey said the side seemed as if it assumed it would finish strong, given their good finishes in recent weeks. That did not happen.

“I felt like stoppage was a bit of an issue all day and we were masking it over a bit [with sharp ball use] ... then the dam wall broke a bit in the last quarter,” Harvey said. “They were all over us. We couldn’t win a contest anywhere [in the final term].

“It was hard to get a gauge on anything given the fact we couldn’t get our hands on the footy.

“Once McKay got some good looks, and Betts [it was over] ... we couldn’t stop it.”

He said Ollie Henry with three goals was a positive.

“He has really matched that [talent] with great work ethic and desire to compete.”

David Teague speaks on the Blues win ...

“Probably the second half. We changed the game at half time and in the third quarter we didn’t get the most from our opportunities,” Teague said.

“In the last we got the reward ... weird day, no crowds.

“Can only visualise and imagine how our fans would have been at the end of the day.

“I thought it was one of our better performances [in the second half].”

Teague praised the efforts of Sam Walsh and gave some insight into how Jack Silvagni was doing after playing a pivotal role soon after the death of his Nonno and Carlton legend, Serge.

Jack Silvagni in tears after the game

He was brilliant today. Played back up ruck, took a hanger, kicked a goal. All days after his nonno and Carlton legend Serge Silvagni passed away.

All over at the MCG ...

What a finish effort from the Blues. McKay with four final term goals.

The flurry of scoring came late, but the signs were there earlier that the match was being played on Carlton’s terms.

The Blues dominated the midfield in the third term for example, but the Pies defence held up.

That all collapsed in the final quarter and the Blues win to stop their rival going ahead of them.

Jack Silvagni takes a huge grab!

He sits on Quaynor’s head. We’ll get the replay soon. A ripper.

And from Silvagni’s pass McKay marks and he kicks the goal. This one is over with four minutes to play.

Something I have learnt today ...

By

The microphones seem to be much louder, and I have learnt the players abuse the umpires quite a lot. I knew they did, but it has seemed more prevelant today.

And then McKay kicks a second

A great set shot. Two bits of play, two goals for him after a quiet three terms.

Lead is now 19.

A very poor finish by Collingwood.
