Chris Scott press conference

How did you cope, you looked excited?

I was after the fact. I was only really looking at it through half of one eye. I got a bit excited, really off the action of the coaches in the box. I’m glad I had a mask on, you wouldn’t want to read what I was saying.

Would you want the ball in anyone else’s hands at that point?

I said that in post game, I believe it. Not only there but across the competition. I think over the journey he’s probably received some criticism for his consistency and he plays a position that’s very hard to be consistent in.

In terms of standing-up in big moments and backing the routine and wanting that situation, I can think of few better. I don’t think that would have been an analysis of Gary Rohan, five, six, seven years ago.

Ice-cool Rohan kicks match-winning goal after siren to deliver Geelong win

By Peter Ryan

Gary Rohan has kicked a goal after the siren to pull off an unbelievable five-point win over a brave Western Bulldogs who will be heartbroken at the result.

Rohan took a mark deep in the forward pocket with 30 seconds to go after Isaac Smith kicked it to him. Rohan went back only needing a point to draw the game but he went one better kicking straight to give the Cats victory.

It denied the Bulldogs their first win at Geelong in 18 years, a victory that looked theirs when Toby McLean, in his first game returning from a knee reconstruction, kicked a goal to put them in front with four minutes to go.

Luke Beveridge post game

By

Luke Beveridge has been allowed to go first instead of Chris Scott as the Bulldogs reportedly need to head back to Melbourne and stay locked away before heading interstate for their next game.

What do you make of that?

In the end, it was an exercise in risk management. We probably needed stoppages and that was frustrating. The boys were enormous all night and obviously, there is a lot of emotion with a narrow loss like that after the siren.

Selwood and Hawkins post game

By

This win took the pair to the most wins by any two players with 194 victories at the Cats.

Selwood joked both he and Hawkins thought Rohan’s shot was missing when talking to Channel Seven post game.

“We both thought it was missing, too,” Selwood said.

“We both have different angles but we were happy it went through.”

Hawkins revealed Rohan had struggled with his ball drop this week after breaking some bones in his hand last week.

By Roy Ward

Gary Rohan has kicked a clutch goal after the siren to give the Cats the win over the Western Bulldogs tonight.

The Dogs did everything they could to win the match but couldn’t get the last possession with Jeremy Cameron finding Gary Rohan in the left pocket with 20 seconds to go with the Dogs up by a point.

The kick was a tough one but Rohan said he backed his technique even with the pressure of needing a goal to win it.

“I just backed my routine. That’s all I can do, feel confident in my routine,” Rohan said.

Menegola fires, McLean matches

By

Sam Menegola has stood up for the Cats in this second half with his pass setting up Cameron’s goal earlier on and on that last play he marked on the lead and then went back and kicked a goal from 40m out, right in front.

But within moments the Dogs had the ball forward and Toby McLean again came up huge finding the ball and kicking the goal.

Luke Beveridge said before the game that McLean’s training form was so good he couldn’t be ignored.

He is proving his coach right tonight.

Dogs lead 78-77 with three mins to go.
