Skipper suffers heart attack on Sydney Harbour charter boat

Stephanie Gardiner

The skipper of a charter boat suddenly slumped at the wheel during a cruise on Sydney Harbour on Saturday night, with crew members going to his aid when they noticed the boat unexpectedly speeding.

The 67-year-old man later died in hospital, having probably suffered a heart attack, NSW Police said.

The crew found the skipper unconscious at the wheel, soon after the vessel left King Street Wharf about 6pm.

They quickly took the controls, and started CPR.

A nearby charter vessel helped return the boat to the wharf, where paramedics were waiting.
