Seven leaders in 11 years marks a remarkably tumultuous time in Australian politics.

It's more than double the number of leaders used by most countries. Meanwhile, Germany has been led by Chancellor Angela Merkel for that entire time.

The only other countries among those we looked at to have had a similar number of leadership turnovers were Italy and Japan.
