Nauru passes law to allow deportation of Australian Rod Henshaw
The Nauru government has moved swiftly to deport a long-term resident after rushing through retrospective legislation to allow the removal of ''prohibited immigrants'' without any right of appeal.
Rod Henshaw, an adviser to the former Nauru government, was arrested after the legislation passed through the Nauru Parliament, by 10 votes to six, and deported on the first plane to Australia.
The move effectively concedes that sacked magistrate, Peter Law, was correct to issue an injunction preventing Mr Henshaw's removal because of doubts about the legality of the move.
