Just listed: The Perth house nearly five times the size of an average home
A colossal seven-bedroom, five-bathroom house listed for sale in Perth’s northern suburbs commands a price tag of $3.5 million and is almost five times the size of Western Australia’s average home.
The Lee-Steere Drive home in Mariginiup sits on five acres and features 990 square metres of internal floor space.
Its size far exceeds the 232-square-metre average for new home builds in Western Australia.
And it dwarfs the average floor area of apartments and townhouses which, sits at 137 square metres according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data from 2021.
The palatial seven-bedroom, five-bathroom home was built in 2013 and features a master bedroom with a full-size lounging area, his-and-hers dressing rooms with display cabinetry, and a bespoke ensuite with a spa.
The chef’s kitchen features a scullery, wine fridge and inbuilt coffee machine. There is a separate mud/cloak room next to the laundry and a guest powder room.
Outside, there is a resort-style outdoor entertaining area, five-car lock up garage, full-size competition dressage arena and seven paddocks.
Peard agent Shane Capelli said it was rare to find such luxury in a rural setting.
He said the property would suit large families, horse or car enthusiasts and hobby farmers.
“It’s easily the biggest house I’ve ever sold in terms of floor area,” he said.
“The house itself is out of this world.
“It’s very cleverly designed to an incredible level of detail.”
Capelli said there were very few homes sold in the semi-rural area.
“It’s surrounded by very well-known suburbs such as Banksia Grove and Tapping, but people tend to hold on to their properties in Mariginiup,” he said.
In June 2022, one of the biggest homes ever built in Perth, likened to a mini hotel, was listed for $8 million in Ballajura.
The Lakefarm Retreat home spanned 2500 square metres of internal floor space with 15 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
It was on the market for more than 100 days but failed to attract a buyer.
But the title of Perth’s biggest house looks like it goes to Maggie and Mario Franco’s seven-level home on Jutland Parade in Dalkeith.
The mega-mansion has 3500 square metres of interior space.
