Former Docker Ryan Crowley to fight assault allegations against MAFS star ex
Former Fremantle Docker Ryan Crowley has pleaded not guilty to a raft of domestic violence allegations relating to his former partner, ex-Married at First Sight contestant Lauren Dunn.
Crowley, 42, was charged with nine offences including aggravated assault, deprivation of liberty, making threats and impeding another person’s breathing.
He was later charged with six historical offences dating back to 2019 and 2020, which included two counts of deprivation of liberty, threats to kill and with intent to harm and doing an act that caused bodily harm.
The charges relate to his alleged abuse of Dunn, except for one which was against a separate woman.
On Friday, the former tagger had three of the charges dropped, while some of his remaining 13 charges were amended to lesser charges.
He officially pleaded not guilty to the remainder, and will take those matters to trial in a bid to fight the allegations.
The court was previously provided with photographs of injuries allegedly sustained by Dunn at the hands of Crowley, saying they contained injuries to her wrist, the side of her body and chest area, as well as “fingers where nails had been ripped off”.
The court was told multiple family violence incident reports had been made concerning the couple, whose relationship was described by Crowley’s lawyer as “quite turbulent”.
The court heard that in one report, Crowley alleged he was the victim of an assault, although the court was told “the majority” of them painted him as the perpetrator.
The court was told no charges or police orders had been made as a result of those reports, and Crowley had no criminal history, save for some minor traffic offences.
The court was also told Crowley “disputes any physical contact between them”, and Dunn sustained bruises photographed by police during an unrelated holiday to Bali.
Crowley remains in bail with strict conditions not to contact Dunn or any other witnesses associated with the case.
He will be back before the magistrates court next month before his matters progress through to the District Court of WA.
