A woman critically injured in a house fire in Melbourne’s southeast in late May has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Police arrested and charged the 37-year-old on Thursday morning, almost two months after the fire at the two-storey property on Terrigal Street, Chadstone.

The Chadstone house fire on May 21.

The woman, and two girls, aged eight and ten, were all taken to hospital in a critical condition.

At the time, it was reported that a gas bottle exploded in an upstairs bedroom, and firefighters found the trio unconscious before carrying them out.

A 36-year-old man who also lived at the house was not home at the time of the fire, and police said at the time he was not a suspect.
