Locals south of the creek on Dawn Avenue said recent rain meant the waterway was flowing faster than usual.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner, but are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

It comes a day after a young boy drowned in a display home pool near Shepparton.
