Four seriously injured after dog attack in Melton home
Four people, including two teenagers, are in hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by their own dog.
Police said the attack happened just before 10pm on Thursday at a home on James Cook Drive in Melton West.
The four were taken to hospital with serious but not-life-threatening injuries.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said advanced life support and mobile intensive care paramedics responded to the attack about 10.30pm.
A man and a woman, both in their late teens, were treated for lower body injuries and taken to Sunshine Hospital in a serious but stable condition. The girl was also treated for mid-body injuries.
A man in his 20s was treated for mid-body injuries and taken to the Western Hospital in Footscray in a stable condition. A woman in her 30s was also treated for lower and mid-body injuries and taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police said the dog, which was owned by the victims, was seized by a council ranger.
“A second dog at the address was also seized by the ranger,” police confirmed.
Melton council confirmed a ranger had been to the property and two dogs had been surrendered, but they refused to comment further as the matter remains under investigation.
