Elderly man facing murder charge over death of woman, 74, in Gippsland

An man in his eighties has been charged with murder over the death of a 74-year-old woman in Gippsland three months ago.

Police treated the woman's death as suspicious after her body was discovered by paramedics who had been called to a home in Wagners Road, Neerim South, about 8pm on March 2.

At the time, the 83-year-old man was found at the home and was taken to Warragul Public Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man was due to face Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
